How orthodontic insurance actually works

An orthodontic benefit is not a payment plan. Most plans carry a lifetime orthodontic maximum. That is one fixed pot of money per person, for life, not per year. When it's gone, it's gone, and it rarely covers a whole case.

It reduces the total, not the monthly. Your benefit comes off the overall fee. What's left is what we spread across your plan, which is why two people with the same insurance can walk out with different monthly figures.

Bring your card to the free exam. Our benefits coordinator will read your plan with you and tell you what it does and doesn't cover before you agree to anything, not after the first bill.

No insurance is normal here. Plenty of our patients have none. The in-house plan was built for exactly that: $1,000 down, from $188 a month, 0% interest, no credit application to a third party. We do not accept Medicaid.

“I absolutely look forward to going to my ortho appts. Dr. Kishawn Kole-James is the best Dentist I've ever had. I am very pleased with my teeth so far. The financial part is affordable and they make it possible for anyone to afford.”

Questions about paying for braces

How much do braces cost in Eastpointe or Southfield? expand_more
Plans start at $188 a month with $1,000 down and 0% in-house financing. The total depends on how much movement your teeth need and how long treatment runs, which is exactly what the free exam is for. You'll get the full number in writing before you decide anything.
What if I can't manage the $1,000 down? expand_more
Talk to us. Our benefits coordinator has worked with a lot of budgets and there is usually room to move on how the down payment is structured. It's a conversation, not a form.
Is there really no interest? expand_more
None. The plan is financed in house rather than through a lender, so there's no interest and no third-party credit agreement to sign. What we quote you is what you pay.
Does the free exam cost anything if I don't start treatment? expand_more
No. The exam is free either way, a $99 value including 3D imaging. Some people leave with braces the same day and some leave with a plan to think about. Both are fine.

Find out your number.

The free exam ends with a real figure for your teeth, not a range, not an estimate over the phone.
