Dr. Kishawn Kole-James
Orthodontist, Eastpointe and Southfield
Before he opened Superior Orthodontics, Dr. Kole-James ran the dental program at three community health clinics around Detroit. That job is the reason this practice works the way it does.
He watched families sit in the waiting room, hear a number, and quietly decide they could not do it. Not because the treatment was wrong for them, but because nobody had explained what it cost or how to pay for it. He built this practice so that conversation happens differently.
Where he trained
Dr. Kole-James earned his DDS at the University of Detroit Mercy, then completed his orthodontics degree at Howard University. He is board-certified and has been treating patients across the Detroit area for more than eight years.
How he explains treatment
He treats a set of teeth the way you would treat a house you plan to live in for fifty years. You fix what actually needs fixing, you do it properly, and you do not sell anyone a renovation they did not ask for. If your child's bite is fine for now, he will tell you to come back in a year instead of starting treatment today.
Why two offices
Eastpointe and Southfield are a half hour apart and serve different sides of the same metro. Running both means a family can pick whichever is closer to work or school that week, and nobody loses a treatment slot because of traffic on I-696.
Away from the office
At home he is outnumbered. His wife Uchenna and their two sons, Samuel and Emmanuel, make up the rest of the household. It is the same patience he brings to the chair, and it is where the family-first thing in our copy actually comes from. He treats every patient the way he would want someone treating his own kids.
“The staff members were incredibly cordial and inviting from the day I booked my initial appointment. My first consultation with Dr. Kishawn Kole-James went well beyond my expectations. He humbly listened and addressed my immediate concerns.”
